Ministries

WORSHIP MINISTRY: you are invited to the sanctuary each Sunday for the 8:30 or 11 a.m. service. During months when there is a fifth Sunday of the month we have one joint 10:00 a.m. service. We also have one 10:00 a.m. for the Easter Cantata, usually on Palm Sunday, for Multicultural Sunday, the second Sunday of June, and the Pastor Appreciation Sunday on the last Sunday of October, and for the Christmas Cantata.

If you want to access our Sunday worship services by logging on to the church website: MiramarUMC.org and clicking on the X icon (formerly Twitter bird icon.) You may watch the service live on Sundays or watch past services. The bulletin with all the words you will need to share in worship is on our home page and we encourage you to sing along with those of us who are in the sanctuary. You may also participate in worship if you go to youtube.com and put in the search bar Miramar UMC

In the sanctuary, on the west side, you may like to pick up the daily devotional guide: The Upper Room.

Since the beginning of COVID have been having a food distribution on the north side of our field, on Miramar Blvd. Thursdays at about 8:00 a.m. You may drive by or walk in. In either case you will need to sign a form required by one of our sources of food, Farm Share, a Federal agency. The form only required you to print your name, state how many are in your household, your street address, if you get any other benefits, and your signature. It does not take long and the cheery volunteers with clipboards are happy to greet you. We also invite you on the opposite week from the Thursday food distributions to come to the Fellowship Hall from the Utopia Drive side Saturdays at 10 a.m. to access the food distribution every other Saturday. Sometimes this distribution has to be changed to Friday in case a funeral or wedding is being held in the sanctuary on Saturday.

COMMUNITY MINISTRY:  We participate in community activities which help to built strong relationships with our neighbors. Some of the activities and causes we participate in are listed below:

BOLD JUSTICE

Broward Organized Leaders Doing Justice is a grassroots organization of religious congregations working to solve critical community problems. Most of our members are working and/or supporting this organization.

BRANCHES

We volunteer and partner with Branches at Thanksgiving preparing, packing and delivering meals to feed the less fortunate.

Branches was established in 1973 as the urban and social justice agency of what is now the South East District of the United Methodist Church. Up until 1999, Branches focused on grassroots organizing, advocacy and working with community members who were disadvantaged and/or experiencing social injustice. During this period, Branches focused resources in the areas of social crisis, immigration, housing, hospice care and hurricane relief, among others. Since 2000, Branches has embarked on developing and implementing programs that address the root causes of poverty and address immediate and critical needs. Today, Branches’ menu of services provides a continuum of support to community members to empower them to pursue life changing opportunities. The church partners with Branches to provide 600 meals on Thanksgiving day in order to bless those being cared for by hospice.
